My Jonny is a competetive man. It's in his blood. He loves the thrill of the chase, the comraderie with team mates as well as the "friendly foe" relationships he creates with competetors, and--of course--the cheerleaders. He's always loved the cheerleaders.
Once upon a time I was one, you know. And now we're raising a couple cute cheerleaders of our own. They love to watch their Dadda compete. Even when they have to get up at 6 am. Even when they have to drive for a few hours. Even when the frigid rain is to blame for the race having only about 1/3 of the expected participants. This crew will still be smiling. But poor Jonny's smile left him somewhere around mile 20. Sometimes it rains. Somtimes it pours. And sometimes your shifting cable breaks 1/5 of the way into the race when you're one of the four riders in the lead group, so you decide to muscle your way up the mountain in your hardest gear just to test the limits of your endurance. That's what my Jonny did today. Poor competitive soul. He had to bow out at the metric 64 miles rather than competeing to be the numero uno racer. Poor poor Jonny.
Nevertheless, it was so fun to cheer him on. It was fun to see his face light up when we drove around the bend about found him suffering up the incline in one gear. It was fun to hear the boys hooting and hollering for their dada. It was fun to cheer for team FRANDSEN. He made us proud.
